Tourism / Discovery
Vézac is a small village, in the heart of the valley of the five castles and bordering the Dordogne. It is located at the gates of the capital of the Périgord Noir: Sarlat. This must-see destination in the Dordogne valley is known for having the highest density of historical monuments with no less than 66 listed or registered monuments on 11 hectares.
Amongst the heritage of Vézac, you can start with the church of Saint-Urbain built in the 12th century. Don't miss the Marqueyssac hanging gardens, a listed site around a castle offering a 6 km walk. Perched on a rocky spur, the belvedere invites you to enjoy an incomparable panorama of the valley. Night visits are possible in summer by reservation.
Take a hike along a number of routes, starting with the Tour du Golf: a 3.4 km circuit running along the Vézac woods, the lake and the Château de Salles. The Vézac millers' trail takes you between the plain and the hillsides, following in the footsteps of the old millers and inhabitants of the village to get from one mill to another.
The banks of the Dordogne are an excellent vantage point from which to appreciate the wild and shifting landscapes of its unspoilt nature. A spot of fishing is welcome in the abundant waters of the Dordogne. If you prefer more dynamic activities, you can hire canoes 100m from the area and choose from several circuits from 5 to 28km
